Kansas City, Mo. – Pittsburg State football moved on while Northwest Missouri fell on the road in the opening round of the NCAA Division Football Championship.
Pittsburg State 59, Harding 42
It was a high scoring affair as Pittsburg State erased a 21-0 deficit to earn the victory over Harding at home. PSU was outgained in the game but forced four fumbles to earn a date with top seeded Minnesota State next Saturday, Nov. 29 on the road.
For the Gorillas Anthony Abenoja was 25 of 45 for 279 yards and four touchdowns through the air also adding a score on the ground. Marquise Cushon caught six passes for 97 yards and Austin Panko added five catches for 84 yards and three touchdowns. On the defensive side of the ball Jason Peete led the way with eight tackles and Heath Wilson added seven stops and returned a fumble for a touchdown.
Minnesota-Duluth 25, Northwest Missouri 21
Minnesota-Duluth scored 19 unanswered fourth quarter points to come from behind and defeat Northwest Missouri at home. NWMSU led 21-6 at the end of the third quarter as they finish the season 10-2 overall.
For the Bearcats Brady Bolles was 12 of 21 for 139 yards through the air hitting Corey Jackson for 61 yards. Kyle Zimmerman rushed for 65 yards and a touchdown as Phil Jackson also added a touchdown on the ground. On the defensive side of the ball Eric Reimer led the way with 12 tackles as Kohlman Adema-Schulte returned a blocked punt for a touchdown.
