Kansas City, Mo. -- Many teams will be on the road for tournament play as they continue to prepare for MIAA play.

Upcoming MIAA Previews:
#7 Central Missouri hosts Peggy Martin Challenge
Sept. 12: #7 UCM vs. Winona State 7 p.m.  Sept. 13: #7 UCM vs. McKendree 1 p.m., #7 UCM vs. #23 Ferris State 7 p.m.
Sept. 14: #7 UCM vs. Minnesota State-Moorhead 12 p.m., #7 UCM vs. UC-Colorado Springs 6 p.m.
#7 Central Missouri swept through the opening week of play and enter the second weekend undefeated. They will host the Peggy Martin Challenge which will include a match with #23 Ferris State. They are led by Taylor Goodness who averaged 3.50 kills per set the opening weekend. MIAA Specialist of the Week Julia Bates averaged 12.08 assists per set. Annie Reilly led the way defensively averaging 4.83 digs per set while Haley Thompson averaged 1.33 blocks per set.

Central Oklahoma stays in state for week two
Sept. 13: UCO vs. East Central 1 p.m., UCO vs. Northwestern Oklahoma State 5 p.m.
Sept. 14: UCO vs. Southern Nazarene 1 p.m., UCO vs. Southeastern Oklahoma State 7 p.m.
Central Oklahoma did not drop a set as they swept through their opening weekend of play. They will now head to the Tiger/Savage Storm Classic in Ada and Durant, Okla. They were led through the first week by Barbara Jackson who averaged 3.09 kills per set. Katy Davis averaged 10.17 assists per set for the weekend. On defense Tate Hardaker averaged 5.67 digs per set and Juliette Smith averaged 1.25 blocks per set.

Emporia State heads for Peggy Martin Challenge
Sept. 13: ESU vs. UC-Colorado Springs 10 a.m., ESU vs. Minnesota State-Moorhead 4 p.m. 
Sept. 14: ESU vs. Winona State 9 a.m., ESU vs. #23 Ferris State 3 p.m.
Emporia State dropped just two sets as they went 4-0 to open the season. This week they travel to the Peggy Martin Challenge in Warrensburg, Mo. They are led by Josie Williams who is averaging 2.75 kills per set. Macki Pankratz averaged 5.00 assists per set as did Sydney Hartman. On defense Kelly Holden averaged 5.50 digs per set and Courtney Haring had 0.93 blocks per set.

Fort Hays State takes a little time off
Next up: Sept. 17 FHSU at #3 UNK 7 p.m.
Fort Hays State will look to bounce back after dropping their first five matches on the road in Hawaii. They will take a break before facing #3 Nebraska-Kearney to open league play. They were led offensively by Madison Schwartz who had 2.07 kills per set and Jenna Ulrich and Haley Corkill who each finished with 2.00 kills per set. Libby Ary was the squads top setter averaging 4.38 assists per set. Defensively Makenzie Weinman averaged 3.59 digs per set and Ulrich averaged 0.94 blocks per set on the weekend.

Lindenwood heads for Colorado
Sept. 13: LWU vs. Wayne State 10 a.m., LWU at Colorado State-Pueblo 2 p.m.
Sept. 14: LWU vs. Southwestern Oklahoma State 12 p.m., LWU vs. Chadron State 3 p.m. 
Lindenwood will look to improve after picking up their first win of the season to move to 1-4. They will travel to the CSU-Pueblo Thunderwolves Classic to open week two. On the attack they were led by Aleah Rosenau and Kayla Guyot who averaged 2.29 kills per set. Emma Brydels led the way with 8.11 assists per set on the weekend. Shannon Doyle had 2.89 digs per set to lead the defense.

Missouri Southern breaks long losing streak
Sept. 13: MSSU vs. Kentucky Wesleyan 3 p.m., MSSU at Arkansas Monticello 7 p.m.
Sept. 14: MSSU vs. Union 9 a.m., MSSU vs. Southern Arkansas 2 p.m.
Missouri Southern broke a 38 match losing streak with a win last weekend. They will head to Arkansas to open week two. They were led on the attack by Katie Politte who averaged 3.50 kills per set. Katie Finder averaged 7.62 assists per set. Danielle Severns led the way on defense averaging 2.92 digs per set. 

Missouri Western to face off with NSIC
Sept. 13: MWSU vs. St. Cloud State 11:30 a.m., MWSU vs. Minot State 4:30 p.m.  
Sept. 14: MWSU at Sioux Falls 2 p.m., MWSU vs. Augustana 7 p.m.
Missouri Western split their opening weekend of play and now hit the road for the NSIC Challenge in Sioux Falls, S.D. On the attack they were led by Erica Rottinghaus who averaged 3.36 kills per set. Stephanie Hattey averaged 6.79 assists per set. On defense Sarah Faubel averaged a team best 5.14 digs per set.

#3 Nebraska-Kearney heads for Colorado
Sept. 13: #3 UNK vs. Metro State 8 p.m., #3 UNK vs. Angelo State 1 p.m.  Sept. 14: TBD
#3 Nebraska-Kearney did not drop a set as they swept through their first five matches. They will now head to Colorado for the Premier Challenge. They are led on the attack by Ashley Leitner who is averaging 4.67 kills per set while hitting .335 on the year. Erin Seele is averaging a team best 11.20 assists per set while LIz McGowan is averaging 4.93 digs per set.

Northwest Missouri heads for South Dakota
Sept. 13: NWMSU vs. Minot State 11:30 a.m., NWMSU vs. St. Cloud State 4:30 p.m.
Sept. 14: NWMSU vs. Augustana 2 p.m., NWMSU vs. Sioux Falls 7 p.m.
Northwest Missouri hits the road for Sioux Falls, S.D. after splitting their opening week of play. They are led on the attack by Miranda Foster who is averaging 3.36 kills per set. Bridget Hanafin is averaging 9.86 assists per set while Bailey Vance is averaging 5.57 digs per set.

Pittsburg State heads to Peggy Martin Challenge
Sept. 13: PSU vs. MSU-Moor 9:30 a.m., PSU vs. UC-Colo. Springs 3:30 p.m.
Sept. 14: PSU vs. #23 Ferris St. 9 a.m., PSU vs. Winona St. 3 p.m.
Pittsburg State will look to bounce back and pick up their first win as they head to the Peggy Martin Challenge. On the attack Crystal Whitten is averaging 4.00 kills per set. Haley Hansford averaged 8.54 assists per set while Jordan Rehm added 4.92 digs per set.

Southwest Baptist heads for Colorado 
Sept. 13: SBU vs. SW Okla. St. 11 a.m., SBU vs. William Jewell 5 p.m. 
Sept. 14: SBU vs. Chadron St. 9 a.m., SBU at CSU-Pueblo 1 p.m.
Southwest Baptist split their opening week and well head to Colorado for week two. On the attack they are led by Nikki Madoch who averaged 2.86 kills per set. Kelsey Fankhauser averaged 10.17 assists per set and Hannah Blount averaged 3.71 digs per set.

#6 Washburn heads for Colorado
Sept. 13: #6 WU vs. #22 Central Wash 2 p.m., #6 WU vs. Grand Valley 6:30 p.m.
Sept. 14: #6 WU vs. Tarleton St. 1 p.m., #6 WU vs. West Ore. 5:30 p.m.
#6 Washburn dropped just one set during their opening week and that came to #23 Ferris State. They will now head to Golden, Colo. for the Oredigger Classic where they will face #22 Central Washington. On the attack MIAA Hitter of the Week Marissa Cox is averaging 3.71 kills per set. Abby Wittman averaged 8.43 assists per set with Kelsey Lewis averaging 4.50 digs per set.
