Kansas City, Mo. -- The MIAA men's basketball season is slated to get underway for may teams this weekend.

Upcoming MIAA Previews:
Central Missouri heads to South Dakota
Last Week: Did not play
Upcoming: 11/9  vs. Northern St. 4 p.m.   11/10 vs. Augustana 4 p.m.
Central Missouri will travel to Sioux Falls, S.D. for the Sanford Pentagon Basketball Showcase where they will face two teams from the NSIC. Charles Hammork is the top returner for the Mules after averaging 11.6 points and 5.1 rebounds last season.

Central Oklahoma waits for week two
Last Week: Did not play
Upcoming: First game on 11/14 vs. Oklahoma City 7 p.m.
Central Oklahoma will wait until week two to get their season started with a trip to crosstown Oklahoma City University. All three season opening games for UCO will be played on the road, but will be played in the greater Oklahoma City area. Josh Gibbs is the top returner for the Bronchos after averaging 17.5 points and 6.1 boards during 2012-13.

Emporia State has home opener in week one

Upcoming: 11/10 at Rockhurst 7 p.m.   11/12 vs. McPherson 7 p.m.  
Emporia State will open the season on the road at Rockhurst before facing McPherson in their home opener. Kaleb Wright is the top returning scorer averaging 14.1 points per game and Paul Bunch is the top returner on the glass averaging 7.8 rebounds last season.

Fort Hays State heads for Minnesota

Upcoming: 11/9 at Southwest Minnesota St. 5 p.m.   11/10 vs. Upper iowa 2 p.m.
Fort Hays State will open the season on the road at Southwest Minnesota State for tournament play featuring match-ups with NSIC teams. Dwayne Brunson led the Tigers last season averaging 14.9 points and 7.6 rebounds per game.

Lincoln travels to Southwest Baptist

Upcoming: 11/8 vs. Arkansas Tech 5:30 p.m.   11/9 vs. Henderson State 5:30 p.m.
Lincoln will open the season on the road at the Southwest Baptist Classic with match-ups against two GAC teams. Charles Cole is the top returner after averaging 15.0 points and 7.3 rebounds per game in the 2013-14 campaign.

Lindenwood heads for Disney Classic

Upcoming: 11/8 vs. Alaska-Anchorage 6:15 p.m.  11/9 vs. Seattle Pacific 11:15 a.m.  11/10 vs. MSU-Mankato 4:15 p.m. 
Lindenwood opens the season at the Disney Tip-Off Classic in Anaheim, Calif. Tyler Ressel is the top returning scorer for the Lions averaging 8.6 points per game while Garret Reeg averaged 3.8 rebounds last season.

Missouri Southern heads to Vegas

Upcoming: 11/8 vs. St Mary’s 5 p.m.   11/9 vs. Eastern New Mexico 7 p.m. 
Missouri Southern will open the season in Las Vegas against St. Mary’s and Eastern New Mexico. On offense their top returner is Marquis Addison who averaged 17.4 points per game, on the glass Jordan Talbert averaged 7.6 rebounds per contest.

Missouri Western ready to start things off

Upcoming: 11/9 vs. Augustana 6 p.m.   11/10 vs. Northern St. 2 p.m.
Missouri Western will head to the Sanford Pentagon Showcast against teams from the Northern Sun. Cedric Clinkscales is the top returner for the Griffons after averaging 13.3 points and 6.4 rebounds per contest.

Nebraska-Kearney opens the year on home floor

Upcoming: 11/10 vs. Wayne State 2 p.m.
Nebraska-Kearney starts the year at home before hitting the road in week two. Mike Dentlinger is the leading returner for the Lopers on offense averaging 12.2 points per game and Tyler Shields averaged 6.8 rebounds per game.

#17 Northeastern State opens the year at home

Upcoming: 11/9 vs. Ecclesia 7 p.m.
#17 Northeastern State opens the season on their home floor against Ecclesia. The top returner for the RiverHawks is Bryton Hobbs who averaged 18.3 points and 4.0 rebounds per game.

Northwest Missouri goes to Minnesota

Upcoming: 11/9 vs. Upper iowa 3 p.m.  11/10 at SW Minnesota St. 4 p.m.
Northwest Missouri will travel to Marshall, Minn. to open the season against NSIC competition. Dillon Starzl is the Bearcats top returner averaging 13.7 points and 5.0 rebounds per game.

Pittsburg State opens season in week two

Upcoming: First game 11/13 at Newman 7:30 p.m.
Pittsburg State will not play in week one before opening a two game road trip. Jake Bullard is the top returner for the Gorillas after averaging 7.0 points and 2.7 rebounds per game during the 2012-13 campaign.

Southwest Baptist opens five game homestand
Last Week: Did not play   Upcoming:  11/8 vs. Henderson State 7:30 p.m.
11/9 vs. Arkansas Tech 7:30 p.m.   11/12 vs. #8 Drury 7:30 p.m.
Southwest Baptist opens the season with five straight home games. Preston Guiot  is the top offensive returner for the Bearcats with 12.7 points per game while Rashaad Brown Peterson averaged 3.8 rebounds per game.

Washburn opens season in Vegas

11/9 vs. CSU-San Bernaardino 3 p.m.  11/12 vs. Peru State 7 p.m.
Washburn will open the season in Las Vegas before playing their home opener with Peru State. The top offensive returner for the Ichabods is Kyle Wiggins with 8.0 points per game and Alex North brings back 6.2 rebounds per game.
