Warrensburg, Mo. – Top seeded Central Missouri needed five sets, but held serve 3-2 over third seeded Nebraska-Kearney to win the MIAA Volleyball Championship. Central Missouri hit .255 for the match as the pulled out the 25-27, 29-27, 25-15, 19-25 and 15-12 victory.
For the Jennies Carly Sojka had 26 kills, 20 digs and hit .395 on the night. Taylor Goodness added 19 kills as part of the UCM one-two punch. Julia Bates had 55 assists to lead the teams passing. On the return Annie Reilly had 28 digs and Becca Blaise and Haley Thompson each finished with five blocks.
For the Lopers Katie Sokolowski had 15 kills and Ellie Pesavento had 14 kils and hit .483 on the night. Kinslie TeKolste had 11 kills on the evening as well. On the return Erin Seele had a double-double with 51 assists and 24 digs while Liz McGowan added 22 digs.
Both teams will await their fate on the NCAA selection show the national tournament scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 25 at www.ncaa.com.
