Defeat Central Oklahma 3-2 in extra time

Olathe, Kan. – The MIAA Women’s Soccer Championship just like the men’s needed extra time as Southwest Baptist defeated Central Oklahoma 3-2 in the first overtime.

Southwest Baptist got the scoring underway in the first half as Ali Skogrand headed in a corner kick from Elin Hammer in the 8th minute. Ashley Creason added the Bearcats second goal in the 39th minute heading in a Brittany Marino pass for her 10th goal of the year.

Central Oklahoma came out strong in the second half with Emily Hahn scoring in the 57th minute to cut the lead to one. Quinn Tookey then scored off a Miranda Thorne pass in the 76th minute to square the game up.

Caroline Karlsson scored the game winner 6:47 into overtime as Ashley Creason directed a pass her way. Paige Hemphill made eight saves to hold on for the victory in goal.

Southwest Baptist earns the MIAA’s automatic bid into the NCAA National Tournament and will await seeding and bracket announcement on Nov. 11 at 7:30 at www.ncaa.com.
