MIAA Names Slaughter as Director of Communications

Kansas City, Mo. – The Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association has named Josh Slaughter as the Director of Communications. Slaughter joins the MIAA staff after spending the last six years with Emporia State University. He will begin his duties on August 1.

 

While at Emporia State, Slaughter served as the Assistant Director of Athletic Media Relations and as the Director of Athletic Publications. In addition, he served as the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association South Central Regional chair.

 

“I am pleased that Josh has accepted our invitation to join the MIAA office” stated Commissioner Dr. Bob Boerigter. “Josh’s professional experience as well as the vision he articulated for this position in the search process puts him in a unique position to provide great service to our members and the constituents we serve.”

 

Prior to coming to Emporia State, in 2007 Slaughter was a KPA award winning photojournalist with the Osage City Herald-Chronicle while he served as the full time sports editor.  While attending Sterling College where he graduated in 2006, he was a KACP award winning journalist and a KCB award winning broadcaster.

 

Josh is a native of Anthony, Kan. where he attended Chaparral High School. He is married to Katie (Gleason) Slaughter.
