Kansas City, Mo. -- The MIAA men's basketball season pushes into week two as many teams get started with play.

Upcoming MIAA Previews:
Central Missouri opens 2012-13 campaign with a win
Last Week: 11/10 d. Webster 67-62
Upcoming: 11/17 vs. Culver Stockton 2 p.m.
The Mules have one game under their belt and were led by Dominique Long who scored 16 points and had nine rebounds. Widgett Washington added 14 points in the effort while Lance Beckwith and Charles Hammork each scored 11 points in the game.

Central Oklahoma looks to start things off
Last Week: Did not play
Upcoming: 11/15 vs. Southwestern Christian 7 p.m.; 11/17 vs. Oklahoma City 2 p.m.
Central Oklahoma will see their first regular season action this season at home. Christian Huffman and Cal Andrews each scored 11 points in exhibition play against the University of Oklahoma. Josh Gibbs and Spencer Smith also added 10 points each in the game against the Sooners.

Emporia State hits the road for Oregon in week two 
Last Week: 11/10 d. Missouri S&T 66-56
Upcoming: 11/14 vs. Central Christian 7 p.m.; 11/16 vs. St. Martin’s 7:15 p.m.; 11/17 at Western Oregon 9:30 p.m. 
Emporia State State opened the 2012-13 campaign with a win on the road at Missouri S&T. The Hornets were led by Kaleb Wright who scored 11 points. Gavin Brown led the team on the glass pulling down a game high 10 rebounds and Taylor Euler added 10 points.

Fort Hays State rolls into week two
Last Week: 11/10 d. McPherson 77-48
Upcoming: 11/13 vs. Bethany 7:30 p.m.; 11/17 vs. Northwestern Oklahoma St. 4 p.m. 
Fort Hays State opened the regular season with a 77-48 victory over McPherson College. The Tigers were led by Ben Conguista who had 15 points. Nick Capiti added 12 points along with six rebounds in the game.

Lincoln looks to rebound
Last Week: 11/9 l. to Minnesota Moorhead 72-67; 11/10 l. to Wayne State 77-61
Upcoming: 11/14 vs. McKendree 7 p.m.; 11/16 vs. PSU 12 p.m.; 11/17 at MSSU 7 p.m. 
Lincoln will look to bounce back after dropping two in the season’s opening weekend. They were led by Shakir Preston who is averaging 15.5 points per game. Sean Harris is averaging 14 points and 4.5 rebounds per contest.

Lindenwood looks to move to 3-0
Last Week: 11/9 d. Greenville 95-62
Upcoming: 11/13 vs. Westminster 7 p.m.; 11/17 at Illinois-Springfield 3 p.m.
Lindenwood opened the regular season with a 95-62 victory over Greenville at home. Alex Bazzell led the way with 18 points and six rebounds. Richie Thompson led the team on the glass with 12 total rebounds.

Missouri Southern opens the season with a win
Last Week: 11/9 d. John Brown 83-63
Upcoming: 11/16 vs. Avila 2 p.m.; 11/17 vs. LU 7 p.m.
Missouri Southern opened the regular season with an 83-63 victory over John Brown. The Lions leading scorer in the contest was Marquis Addison who had 23 points. Jordan Talbert had a double-double with 22 points and 12 rebounds.

Missouri Western ready to start things off
Last Week: Did not play
Upcoming: 11/13 vs. Sterling 7 p.m.; 11/16 vs. William Jewell 7:30 p.m.; 11/17 vs. Rockhurst 7:30 p.m.
Missouri Western will be playing their first regular season contest of the season. They did play an exhibition game against Missouri State in which Adarius Fulton had 10 points and Alfreehman Flowers added 13 points.

Nebraska-Kearney splits opening week play
Last Week: 11/11 l. to SD Mines 79-71; 11/12 d. Chadron State 96-75
Upcoming: 11/13 at Hastings 7:30 p.m.; 11/15 at Wayne State 7 p.m.; 11/18 vs. Colorado Mines 2 p.m.
Nebraska-Kearney earned an even split of their opening week games. They were led in the two contests by Jon Henderson who averaged 27.5 points per game. Mike Dentlinger led the team on the glass averaging eight boards and 17.0 points per game.

Northeastern State rolls into week two
Last Week: 11/12 d. Northwestern Oklahoma St. 78-73
Upcoming: 11/15 vs. Arkansas Tech 7 p.m.; 11/17 vs. Central Bible 7 p.m.; 11/19 vs. Ecclesia 7 p.m.
Northeastern State opened the 2012-13 campaign with a 78-73 victory over Northwest Oklahoma State. Ethan Anderson led the way for the RiverHawks with 20 points. Jermaine Bransford added 15 points and Bryton Hobbs scored 14 points in the win.

Northwest Missouri opens season with a win
Last Week: 11/11 d. Graceland 86-65
Upcoming: 11/16 vs. Rockhurst 5:30 p.m.; 11/17 vs. William Jewell 5:30 p.m.
Northwest Missouri picked up an 86-65 season opening victory over Graceland. Alex Sullivan led the way for the Bearcats with 28 points. Kyle Schlake added 13 points and four rebounds to the NWMSU effort.

Pittsburg State opens season in week two
Last Week: Did not play
Upcoming: 11/13 vs. Baker 7 p.m.; 11/16 vs. LU 12 p.m.; 11/17 vs. Avila 5 p.m.
Pittsburg State will begin their 2012-13 campaign as the league rolls into week two. A.J. Adams led the way for PSU in an exhibition with Wichita State scoring 13 points for the Gorillas.

Southwest Baptist looking to rebound
Last Week: 11/9 l. to Wayne St. 66-43; 11/10 l. tto MSU-Moorehead 92-69
Upcoming: 11/13 vs. Drury 7:30 p.m.; 11/15 vs. Ark-Mont. 7 p.m.; 11/17 vs. Mo. S&T 7 p.m.
Southwest Baptist will look to bounce back from season opening losses. They were led in the opening week by Preston Guiot who is averaging 12.0 points per game. Jaywuan Hill averaged 11.5 points and 6.5 rebounds per contest.

Truman dribbles into week two
Last Week: 11/9 l. to William Penn 83-78
Upcoming: 11/14 vs. Upper Iowa 7 p.m.; 11/19 vs. Central Christian 7 p.m.  
Truman will look to bounce back from a season opening loss to William Penn. The Bulldogs were led by MIAA Athlete of the Week Mike Carlson who scored 27 points and pulled down six rebounds.

#2 Washburn opens the season at home
Last Week: Did not play
Upcoming:11/14 vs. Peru State 7:30 p.m.; 11/19 vs. Bethany 7 p.m.
#2 Washburn will look to open the 2012-13 campaign at home with match-ups against Peru State and Bethany both of the NAIA. In an exhibition loss at Kansas Will McNeil had 13 points and Bobby Chipman had 13 boards.
