The Chief Executive Officer Council of the Mid-America
Intercollegiate Athletics Association invites applications for the
position of Commissioner. The MIAA Commissioner leads a
conference of 12 NCAA Division II member institutions from the
states of Missouri, Kansas and Nebraska with the MIAA conference
office located in downtown Kansas City, Missouri.
The Commissioner, the chief administrative officer for the
conference, is responsible for all daily operations of the
conference including, but not limited to, the following: management
of the governance structure and meeting planning and
administration; strategic planning; championships administration;
budget planning and financial management; marketing and
development; broadcasting; media relations; community and corporate
relations; and management of officiating programs. The Commissioner
is also responsible for all human resource functions for a staff of
four full-time positions and eight part-time positions.
Applicants are required to have a bachelor’s degree
(advanced degree preferred) with significant leadership experiences
in intercollegiate athletics and/or business
environments. Applicants should be able to demonstrate
progressive experience in strategic planning, financial management
and fundraising. A demonstrated commitment to gender equity and
diversity is also required. Applicants should articulate in the
application letter a comprehensive understanding and a vision for
the application of the NCAA Division II Strategic Positioning
Platform and Division II Strategic Plan.
