MIAA Internship Program:

 

The MIAA internship program is designed to equip individuals desiring to enter the field of intercollegiate athletics with valuable skills related to sports management and athletics administration through various areas including, but not limited to the following:

- Championship Administration
- Conference and NCAA Governance
- NCAA Rules-Compliance
- Sports Information/Media Operations
- Student-athlete Development
- Marketing/External Operations

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

- Assist in the administration of conference championships
- Assist in the development of conference marketing materials
- Assist with collecting and compiling squad lists and eligibility forms
- Provide support in organizing conference meetings
- Assist with website maintenance and other sports information duties
- Assist with the MIAA Student-Athlete Advisory Committee
- Provide support with the MIAA Awards Program
- Assist with daily office operations

The MIAA is seeking to fill three to five positions for the internship program. The start date for the positions each year is September 1 and will continue through June 30. These positions are unpaid; however, the conference will provide parking, office expenses and travel associated with conference events. Interns will also be provided networking opportunities within the Kansas City community and the conference.

A minimum commitment of 10-15 hours per week is required along with the ability to travel, work nights and selected weekends; however, full-time internships are preferable (9:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday - Friday, plus some nights and weekends). The MIAA is flexible in accommodating the schedule of currently enrolled college students and would consider offering semester-only internship options; September to December and January to June.

Interns will be expected to work all MIAA events, including, but not limited to winter and summer association meetings, the MIAA Awards Celebration and all MIAA TitleFest events; some of which occur on evenings and weekends.

Application Process and Deadlines

Requested application materials include a cover letter, resume and list of references, and should be submitted to the conference office no later than June 30 to be considered for the internship program.

Interviews will be conducted July 1 through 20, with offers being made July 25 through 31.
